"You say something because you mean it and mean it because you say it. The more nervous it makes you, the better because it means you’re being authentic and making yourself vulnerable."

-Mark Manson

In his book “Models” Mark Manson emphasizes that the way to forge meaningful relationships is through being honest and vulnerable.

Most people, myself included, have wasted plenty of time engaging in activities or behaviors simply for the validation of others, thinking that they must play a different character other than their true selves to gain acceptance/social status/love. Instead, they could’ve spent all that time and effort elevating their value as individuals.

When people don’t like you, or you don’t like them for that matter, it is for a reason. Don’t disregard that reason!

Recognize that the power to forge meaningful connections is always in your hands through getting comfortable in your shoes and showing that version to the world. And being steadily okay with the fact that people won’t like you, but others will, precisely because of how comfortable you are with them not liking you.

Your opinion of yourself should always be more gratifying and treasured than those of others.
